Weighing 7,892 lbs and 28'.8" in length our new baby was delivered on Monday November 29th. We immediately and affectionately called it "Behemoth". Xerox already had a name for it though, the Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press. The Graphic Arts Technical Foundation is calling it the leader in digital colour printing.
The press delivers economical, full-colour output with the look and feel of offset. It runs a wide array of stocks from 16 lb bond to 130 lb cover - coated or uncoated, smooth or textured; specialty stocks and labels - in sheet sizes from as small as 7" x 7" to a maximum of 14.33" x 20.5". This makes it ideal for projects such as packaging materials, point-of-purchase signs and report covers.
The iGen3 averages 100 letter sized sheets per minute - no matter the weight of the media. It can print a project incorporating different stock like cardboard separators and plastic tabs, collating the pages before delivering it to the output tray. Because it is totally software-driven it can also custom-tailor every single document from within that job to the individual who is to receive it.
In addition, the Xerox DocuSP Color Server - a workstation that processes and delivers print files to the press - has been Pantone licensed, providing more accurate, consistent colour control.
The first job off the iGen3 press was our Christmas card which we printed on Classic Linen Solar White 80 lb cover stock. Our 2005 calendar has also been printed on the press. It consists of a cover coated on both sides with the rest being coated only on one side. Both the coated and uncoated stocks are loaded into the trays and the iGen3 prints the calendar, collating the pages and different stock as it goes.
We are so very proud of our new baby and happy to show her off. Give your account representative a call to hear more about our new iGen3, or to arrange a time to come in and see her up close along with a personal tour of our facility.
